Before making a book-and-claim assertion, a buyer should review evidence that shows:
- the fuel or attribute was issued under the applicable programme or registry;
- the production batch, fuel pathway, volume, vintage, and sustainability characteristics;
- the relevant certification or verification information;
- the transfer of ownership to the buyer;
- the retirement or cancellation record showing the attribute cannot be used again; and
- any claim guidance, methodology, or reporting requirements that apply to the buyer’s intended statement.
The evidence should form a clear, auditable chain from production through transfer and retirement.
